In November, I’m teaching two workshops in Bradford-on-Avon at The Make Space, a lovely artist’s studio which is part of Tithebarn Workshops, a collection of working artist studios and café, set in its own tranquil gardens. There’ll be a maximum of eight participants in each workshop, which will involve reading, talking about, writing and sharing poetry. In a friendly and encouraging atmosphere, I’ll guide participants through a series of writing exercises and prompts that will lead to the first drafts of new poems. There’ll be time to share work, ask questions, make mistakes and take risks in new writing. All abilities are welcome. Work to your own level. Read on if you’d like to know more. There are four places remaining on each workshop.
On Tuesday, 14 November, 10.30am - 1pm, Writing the Earth is a workshop for anyone interested in reading and writing poetry about the natural world and the environment. We’ll read a selection of poems that might be described as ‘nature poems’ and ‘ecopoems’, and discuss what these boundaries between genres might mean. We will also consider ideas to do with ecojustice, citizen science, and poetry as activism, and other issues. There’ll be a pooling of the group’s existing knowledge and a discussion of opportunities for wider sharing and publication. Please get in touch if you’re interested in joining this workshop or there’s a link with a few more details here.
On Saturday, 25 November, 2pm - 4.30pm, Turning Up to the Page is a workshop for anyone who’d like to take their poetry further, with exercises and prompts that will involve reading and responding to contemporary poetry, and a discussion of strategies for making more time for reading and writing, and ways into development and publication. More details and how to book here or please get in touch with any questions. My email is josephinecorcoran13 at gmail dot com.
